”Why are you being so soft on the athletes? Are they just meat? Do you not care if they die or not?”

One of my favourite mixed martial arts, wrestling, boxing and grappling media personalities is Eddie Goldman.

Not only for the fact that he is the guy to listen to, to podcast, if you want to know all about what is going on in the world of MMA, but also for that he really cares about the fighters.
”Why are you being so soft on the athletes? Are they just meat? Do you not care if they die or not?”

He is using his ”No Holds Barred” to put all the facts on the table. He is that brave guy who loves the sport – but is still up for a fight against various scumbag promoters.

Eddie Goldman is totally against the use of steroids and drugs within the sport and speaks often about the need of tests and suspensions.
– What is the cost of a dead fighter? What is the cost of athletes dying young from steroids and drugs? He asks.

He rages against the California State Athletic commission which has reduced this suspension for steroids from one year to six months. The commission does not follow the sanctions of the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), two years at the first offence and a life time band for the second offence.

Goldman is not only the watchdog of the combat sports, he interviews all the interesting people like Randy Couture and Renzo Gracie. And he manages to reflect upon the history, to connect the past to the present, to give a perspective upon the fighting and does really care about the people who are making a living out the art of fighting.
